April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month.  Children of the world are trafficked for a number of reasons.  However, the majority of these children are trafficked for sexual exploitation. Pope Francis cautions us not to remain indifferent knowing that these precious human beings are being bought and sold like goods.

In observance of Child Abuse Prevention Month, dedicate time with children (at family masses, school or home) to pray together for those who have been affected by abuse, and pray for the prevention of child abuse.

Light a candle to signify solidarity with victim-survivors of child abuse (the candle can be placed near the statue of the Holy Family or another similar location during a school/family mass).

Prayers:

Blessing over children:  May the Lord Jesus, who loved children, bless and keep you in his love. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, + and of the Holy Spirit. Amen

Blessing:  We pray that you, Father, send your blessing upon us this day, so that we may help our children grow in Christian maturity, and by the power of the Holy Spirit, lead them to become Christ’s witness in the world, spreading the faith you have given your Church.  Amen.
